So, I have finally finally taken the plunge and have started the 23 things on a stick program (thought, to be fair, I hadn't started library school when it first started and therefore hadn't heard of it). I'll be doing this on my own, though I do have 2 people who will be checking in on me and keeping me honest (one of whom can be reached here). Hopefully I'll make it through the whole program--just in time to start the new 23 things!
I'm a little hesitant about starting a blog; I'm not sure my thoughts are interesting or exciting enough to post for the whole world to see. Plus, there's that whole privacy issue that plenty of other 23 thingers have posted about. Finally, there is the whole time issue. Not that posting will take tons of it, or that I don't have any time to go and post, but for the fundamental question always comes down to "I could do X or I could be reading a book..."
Yeah, I'm a nerd. Like that wasn't obvious from the title. Again, this is what the 2 friends keeping me on the straight and narrow are for.
Post Scriptum: A quick update on the second part of the first thing. Making my Yahoo avatar was more fun than I thought, though I pretty quickly got tired of looking through clothing options and backgrounds. I'm also not sure exactly what purpose an avatar serves. I'm going to check out some of the other library blogs to see how other people (libraries) use them. I also had a fairly difficult time importing it into my blog. I'm not sure what I was doing wrong, but it kept importing the basic avatar without any updates. I just kept trying and evetually I logged out of yahoo and when I logged back in and imported it then, it worked!
